Background

Abbotsford House is a family owned Care home in Bearsden on the outskirts of Glasgow. Abbotsford House was bought in 1989 by Mr Surjit Sokhi and Doctor Caroline Sokhi.

The Sokhi's wanted to convert this mansion in the heart of Bearsden into a care home, in order to offer a quality service to the ageing community. Which they succeeded in doing, when Abbotsford House Care Home came one of the first Care Homes in Scotland to achieve the British Standard 9001 in 1994 and Abbotsford's Edna Reilly was awarded Carer of the Year at the Scottish Care Awards in 2009. The level of quality is still very much present with the home care service recently being graded 6 (Excellent) for Care & Support, Staffing and Management by the Care Inspectorate.
20 years on, and the business is still very much a family one, with Mr and Doctor Sokhi still owning Abbotsford House and running the care home through their company group, namely the Morrison Community Care Group. In addition, 2011 saw the introduction of their son Paul Sokhi LLB Dip LP as a Managing Director in the Group.

Abbotsford House is now a well-established local care service which has been delivering care to older people for over 20 years.
The organisation is registered with the Care Inspectorate to deliver a range of care services, including Residential and Nursing Care, Day Care & Respite Care, Homecare.
